Aurora Telecom's network is available across Ireland. We operate both a national network and metropolitan networks in Dublin, Shannon and Ennis. For further details please view our network.

Aurora Telecom currently offers a number of bespoke fibre solutions such as dark fibre and co-location services. Aurora Telecom provide services to business customers nationally.

A fibre optic cable is made from ultra‑thin strands of glass or plastic called fibres. Each fibre has a core that carries light, surrounded by cladding to keep the light contained, and protective coatings. Single‑mode fibre cores are typically 8–10 microns wide, while multimode cores measure 50–62.5 microns, all within an outer cladding of about 125 microns. This is roughly the thickness of a human hair.

Dark fibre refers to installed but unused optical fibre cables that carry no light signal or data. Organisations can lease these dormant fibres and activate (“light”) them with their own equipment, gaining full control over bandwidth, security, scalability, and performance.

There are a number of reasons why enterprises should consider dark fibre, a common reason is the need for enterprises to have a high demand for back bone fibre. Other reasons might be the ability to upgrade bandwidth whenever you want. For more detailed information and a discussion on your requirements please contact us.

Each network is bespoke in design and can consist of civil works, interconnects, splicing and co-location. The complex design and build is managed throughout by Aurora Telecom.

If you’re planning or undertaking any excavation work, it is essential to check for the location of gas pipes and fibre cables before you start work. Learn more about our Dial Before You Dig service.
