Aurora Telecom proud to sponsor the HEAnet 2025 Annual Conference
Aurora Telecom was proud to sponsor the HEAnet 2025 Annual Conference, held in Killarney, County Kerry. The event remains a cornerstone for Ireland’s research and education networking community, bringing together leaders and innovators to explore the future of digital connectivity.
A highlight of the conference was the Gala Dinner, proudly sponsored by Aurora Telecom. During the evening, David Kelly, Director of Customer and Business Development, addressed attendees, emphasising the critical role of collaboration and innovation in shaping Ireland’s digital future. He outlined how Aurora Telecom’s high-capacity fibre network is designed to meet the growing demands of universities, research centres, and public institutions—enabling faster, more reliable connectivity for data-intensive research and international collaboration.
Aurora Telecom’s team, including Sean O'Donnell, John Fitzgerald, Eimear Hickey, Phelim Dolan, James Freeman, and Calvin Ormston, actively participated in sessions and networking opportunities throughout the event. The team showcased the potential of Aurora Telecom’s dark fibre network to support cutting-edge research and digital transformation across Ireland.
A standout moment was meeting Dr. Norah Patten, who is set to make history next year as Ireland’s first astronaut aboard the International Space Station. Her insights into human spaceflight and STEM outreach resonated strongly with the conference theme of pushing boundaries in science and technology.
All the team at Aurora Telecom would like to congratulate and thank Ronan Byrne, CEO of HEAnet, and the entire HEAnet team for delivering an outstanding event. We look forward to continuing the conversations sparked in Killarney and to supporting Ireland’s research and education community with the connectivity it needs to thrive.
